Gianni Schicchi In this work I employed the use of two Hexachords, one being transformed from the other, and their respective transpositions. The counterpoint material is derived from rotations of a standardized matrix generated from the pairing of the two primary Hexachords. One should be acutely aware of the three overriding leitmotivs which prevail through the entire work. Two of these are the primary Hexachords and the other is a seventh transpositional level which works against the norm of a proper transpositional grid. The pitch material extensions of the piece are expressed across beat devisions if 150 beats down to as small as one-seventh of a beat in duration. In closing I would like to invite the listener to know that this work was composed from the dates of January 18 thru February 14, 1979, and is to Ambassador Anne Cox Chambers.
